“the purpose of the journey is the journey itself.” Jacques Lecoq

Happenings

  • Working and prepping for the radio show! It’s starting in the next couple of weeks, so stay tune. It will be a sort of improv playful live radio show for 1/2 hours with friends, guests, different sections and sound world building.
    • Mounted an icecast server for the show and writing some of the IDs and playing with names. So far, Mochee’s Menagerie is the one, but we will see. It’s a building in the moment process (feeds to keep in the loop!)
  • Visiting family in Michigan this week, so it’s nice to be out of the city for a couple of days, be closer to nature. (I want to go to camping soon!)
  • We’re getting ready for Anthros, the furry art gallery and vendors halls this September 12th at Industry City (More info here) - worked on updating the website while finalizing the last selections of artists and vendors.
  • A new Growl Arcade is coming this Friday Aug 28th! 3 weeks.
  • There is a new New York Furry Review edition, the 2nd ever! I couldn’t go to the picnic, but can’t wait to read it. Submitted my article that soon will share some of the ideas here.
  • Making mood boards, prepping and working on what would be the filming for Queer Latitudes 2nd part, on the more abstract / interpretative parts. It’s over 2 years since I start filming in Ecuador by now, and this is something I love about documentary, the more the time passes on post-production, the project evolves as also I evolve in my artistic endeavors and viewpoint. I couldn’t imagine to get to this point in the project, and suddenly I can feel the shape of it.

Feelings

Sadness. There’s a sadness in feeling myself (or like parts of me) change. A lot of the beliefs I was working toward, or that held me to keep pushing in moments of total uncertainty, of feeling not enough, I’ve been healing that, and it creates an emptiness, a kind of oh…now I can see how a lot of my past decisions were held up by that belief that no matter how much I tried, something was missing. Now I feel on the verge of something, seeing all at once how that belief doesn’t serve me anymore, while also trying to go slow, step by step, recognizing the freedom we have while still being responsible for our decisions. A very existential crisis… but as Camus would say: “A man who has become conscious of the absurd is forever bound to it.”

Reading / Listening

This year being exploring more a spiritual journey. Reading There Is No Other by Ram Dass this week as a way to cultive the practice of be here now.

  • “Working out of enough-ness instead of the need for more is a great art form, and an entrance into be here now.”

but also, on my journey in clowning, not only I signed up for a workshop this August, I started reading The Moving Body by Jacques Lecoq, where he shares his unique philosophy of performance, improvisation, masks, movement, and gesture. Such a pleasure of reading.

Aside

Enjoying the sun in Michigan. As much sun as possible (with sun screen ofc!).
